We cannot predict the future but it looks like fur prices should be as good as or better than last year and want to remind you that you are responsible for your no sale or unsold pelts. All no sale fur will become property of the UTA unless arrangements are made for the fur to be picked up no later than at the end of Sunday’s sale.
For a different twist this year we in conjunction with the sale will be sponsoring a fur harvester Educator class for new instructors. If you have a desire to instruct fur harvester classes or know of someone that does then this will be an excellent chance to get state certified. It will be a condensed class and will be completed on Saturday afternoon. This will be an authorized training with the DWR and we feel it will be a great opportunity to get recertified or to become certified for the first time.
For those who are interested for more information please contact Kent Fowden 801-404-6511, Kirk Smith 801-538-4725 (DWR) or Stan Bassett 435-245-4508.The DWR needs to know how many people want to attend so that they can have the packets for each person. There will be no charge.
As members of the UTA this is your sale it takes an awful lot of work to put on and your help would be greatly appreciated it you would like to help please give one of the officers a call.
Look forward to seeing you there.

UTAH TRAPPERSFUR SALEFEBRUARY 2012
The trapping season is in full swing and the weather has been wonderful. Very easy access due to lack of snow. But with the lack of snow means that it is much harder to find tracks and to find furbearer travel routes. It just presents a new and different challenge.
Fur sale dates are February 9,10 and 11 in Nephi. You will be able to check in your fur on Friday and Saturday and the sale will be on Saturday and Sunday. Try to get there early to beat the rush and plan on spending a fun day.
It is important to consign your fur to the sale. This doesn’t mean that you have to sell it but it gives the buyers a good idea on what to expect as to volume of fur that they will have to bid on. This really helps the trapper, because if the buyers know how much fur and what species there is they can find more outlets for our fur. It is a win win for all concerned. If you call in and consign your fur and then catch more, you can still bring it. You will not be turned away. The following people are the people to call to consign your fur:Herb Carter-435-623-0718
Travis Seifers-435-691-8728
Kent Fowden- 801-404-6511
Stan Bassett- 435-245-4508
You can consign your fur January 7 through February 7.
Remember to donate a pelt or two to the scholarship fund. All of the money goes for a good cause. All that donate are eligible for prizes that will be drawn for.
If you are bringing frozen fur or whole animals please call me prior to the sale. I need to know what is coming so that arrangements can be made for you frozen pelts. There is a good demand for ringtail cats, mink, badger, raccoon, some beaver, gray fox, and civit cats. If you have something let me know and I will try to finda buyer for you. If you sell your fur frozen you will pay no commission. The buyers pay all commissions on frozen fur. Phone 435-245-4508wildfurs@live.com
The DWR will be there to tag bobcats. Also, there will be a general membership meeting. The officers will discuss upcoming events. Try to attend.
There will be a Fur Harvester Instructor course taught at the fur sale. It will be on Saturday afternoon. I currently don’t have an exact time but, plan on Saturday. If you need a new certification or if you have never instructed this will be your chance to get it completed. I have been an instructor since it began. It is a good program and it needs actual trappers as instructors. This is a great opportunity for trappers as well as the people over fur harvestereducation. I know Gary Cook and Kirk Smith very well. They are over the fur harvester education program. They are good people and will do a good job. If you want to instruct or know of someone that does please let us know and we will reserve a spot for you. For more information callKent Fowden or Stan Bassett.
I hope to and look forward to seeing you there.
Best of luck, Stan Bassett435-245-4508wildfurs@live.com

Utah Fur SaleNovember 2011
The fur sale is set for February 10 and 11 in Nephi. I am all ready receiving calls from trappers that want to sell their fur. It promises to be a good sale. Currently, there is a good demand for our furs. The buyers want prime fur, so as hard as it is try to hold off until it is prime. As always bobcats seem to be the main focus. We will have several bobcat buyers there competing for your fur. They will also compete for your other pelts. If you haven’t been to the Utah sale I recommendthat you give it a try. Almost always the trapper will receive a better price at the sale. Plus you get to talk trapping with a lot of trappers. A good deal any way you look at it. This sale is designed to help trappers and it is put on by trappers. All of the commission goes back to the trappers association for other events.
There has been a good demand for your frozen pelts and animals. There is a good demand for raccoons, ringtail cats, badger, mink, gray fox, and just about anything that you bring in. It is important that you call me and let me know what you have. If I know I can make arrangements for your frozen animals. If I know early enough I am quite certain that I can find a buyer for you pelts. If you sell your frozen pelts and animals, you will pay no commission. The buyer will pay all commissions. You will be paid right then so you won’t have to wait for a check. This has worked out really nice for some trappers that don’t have the time or space to put up and finish fur.
Plan on attending, it is a good time. The officers will send out a flyer to give you times and more detailed information.
Give me a call to let me know if you have frozen fur or just to talk trapping.
